Special Gauging Fixtures
Gudgeon Pin Gauges
Purpose: To check outer diameter and lobing pattern of a highly finished component like a Gudgeon Pin.

Description of the gauge: At the end of a 'V' guideway, a three jets ARG is fitted in such a way that the center line of the ARG matches with that of a component resting on the 'V'. Operator just has to push a component along the 'V' for it to enter the ARG. By rotating the component, lobing pattern can be checked. As handling and guiding of pins is very easy, this gauge can do thorough inspection of gudgeon pins in a short time.
Match Gauging Fixture
Purpose: To check internal diameter, external diameter and clearance between components used in a selective assembly.

Description of the fixture: In many precision selective assemblies like spool and body of a hydraulic valve, nozzle body and nozzle of an injector the fit between mating parts is of paramount importance. The inspection fixture not only has to display individual internal and external diameters but actual clearance/interference between them. This fixture offers twin benefits of air and electronic gauging. The actual sensing is done by air while manipulation of signal is done through electronics.
Shaft Gauging Fixture
Purpose: To check dimensional parameters like outer diameters and lengths of different steps of a shaft and also to measure geometric tolerances like concentricity, face runout between steps.

Description of the fixture: This fixture is ideal for a mass production set up where a number of parameters of a shaft have to be checked in less than a minute. Depending on the complexity, this fixture can be manufactured in two different styles. In the first type, loading and measuring stations are same. As soon as a shaft is loaded, because of different gauging elements which are in touch with different diameters/faces, values of required parameters are indicated on the electronic readouts In the second type, a shaft is loaded at one station and the entire platform which is supported on linear bearings is pushed to the gauging station. At the gauging station different gauging members come in contact with a shaft and measurement of different parameters is done. If a shaft is slowly rotated by hand, concentricity / runout between different steps can be indicated depending on the requirement. This gauge when offered with a computer offers twin advantages of cost effectiveness and SPC facility. This type of fixture is ideal with Total Light Module ( TLM ) which can indicate conforming state of several parameters by the glow of a green light.
Connnecting Rod Gauge
Purpose: This fixture is suitable for the measurement of bend, twist, center distance and two internal diameters of a connecting rod.

Description of the fixture: This fixture offers a very convenient method of measuring bend and twist of a connecting rod. This fixture can be offered with a vertical mounting or horizontal mounting depending on the type of a connecting rod. Initially, an operator has to set the fixture by two masters whose bend and twist values are known. Later on, it is just a repetitive work of loading reading and unloading. This fixture is of great help where operator has to make corrections in the bend and twist values of a connecting rod depending on the values indicated by the fixture. This type of a situation generally occurs in case of connecting rods of scooters and motor cycles. Apart from bend and twist this fixture can configure to measure center distance and two internal diameters
Piston Gauging Fixture
Purpose: To check external diameters of a piston

Description of the gauge: An automotive piston is a very important part of an internal combustion engine. The cylindrical surface of a piston is provided with a typical profile which is very important. There is a datum diameter at the lower end of a piston and other diameters are specified with reference to that. Piston gauging fixture developed by the BMI division are extensively used by the reputed piston manufacturers all over India. The company has got vast experience in executing total computerized gauging solution for a piston inspection
Groove Width Checking Gauge
Purpose: To check widths of grooves from 1.5mm onwards

Description of the gauge: Air plug gauges manufactured by the BMI division are not restricted only to cylindrical shapes but can be finished in other forms when workpiece geometry requires it. Flat air plugs gauges are used for checking groove widths and internal conditions in a wave guide tubing. This type of gauge, which is very handy and highly accurate is common in vane pump manufacturing where number of slots provided on a rotor have to be checked.
Flatness Checking Gauge
Purpose: To check flatness of a surface of small parts like valve plates used in refrigeration and industrial hydraulics.

Description of the gauge: This fixture is supplied in three table sizes diameter 150, 200 and 250 mm. The top surface of the table is ground to a high degree of flatness. Depending on the specific requirement, surface of the table can be lined with carbide strips to render more wear resistance. At the center of the table, an electronic probe is fitted with tip of the probe protruding outside. When a component whose flatness is to be measured is slowly moved over the probe contact, variation in the readings is recorded, which is flatness.
